Dumbo, Brooklyn, NYC - February 12th: opening reception 6-9pm and continuing to March 31st, 2010 - Scott Eder Gallery

BROOKLYN, February 12, 2010- HOTWIRE #3 features a dynamic selection of artwork from the upcoming all-new third volume of Hotwire Comics! Following the success of last year's Hotwire #2 show, this seminal show features paintings, works on paper in all media from some of the heaviest hitters in the alternative comix scene, including Tim Lane, David Sandlin, Glenn Head, Mark Dean Veca, Danny Hellman, Jayr Pulga, Mary Fleener, Karl Wills, R. Sikoryak, Sam Henderson, Mats?!, Rick Altergott, Chadwick Whitehead. The opening of the show is timed to coincide with the release of the brand-new volume of Hotwire Comics. Hotwire #3 is currently on view at 18 Bridge St., DUMBO, Brooklyn until March 31, 2010.

The Harvey- and Eisner-nominated anthology of action, thrills, chills and transgression is back with a third volume! Anything goes in Hotwire, eschewing literary high-mindedness for a pure, gut-wrenching viscerality that you can tune in and rest your brain on after a long day.

Opening party Friday night, Feb. 12th, from 6pm-9pm

Hotwire #3 New York Exhibition

Hotwire #3 comic anthology from Fantagraphics will be out in February, I've got a 2 page Connie Radar comic inside (with colouring assistance by Shoo). As with previous issues, there will be an exhibition at the Scott Eder gallery in Dumbo; a signing party at the comic store Desert Island in Williamsburg and a live comic show at MOCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art), lower Broadway, NYC. If time and money permits, I'll be at all three.

One year later and I've finally completed the pencils and inks for a new 2 page comic strip, it doesn't sound like much but I'm doing 15 panels a page here (and it's meticulously inked). Now I just need to get this thing coloured...

The Nobel Prize?

Robot Julius suggests optimistically to Connie she may be up for a major humanitarian prize, Connie on the other hand suggests otherwise. We will have to wait till next time to see who was correct...

Technically speaking...

Panel 4 - Robot Julius explains to Connie she's not immune to death as she stated in the previous panel, she could still be killed by acts of god and is safe only from growing old, which isn't bad if one takes care of oneself and plays it safe. Connie seems indifferent to her Robot's comments, of course what he's saying isn't news to her, Julius is simply wasting his breath. More to come...

The Infinity Serum

Panel 3 - Connie, with one hand holding the Infinity Serum and the other a glass of delicious French champagne, says a few words to celebrate the completion of her DIFFICULT and IMPORTANT work: a secret liquid formula to conquer DEATH! A scientific breakthrough so PROFOUND it must come with all sorts of DANGEROUS and EXCITING consequences. And what's her robot assistant saying? Ha ha, Correct! It's the proverbial Hebrew "L'chiam!" or "To life!"

Somewhere Near the North Pole...

Panel 2 and the story begins. Here we see Connie Radars top secret observatory/laboratory in the middle of the coldest place on earth.
